Trenching Site Investigation
New development plots which are situated in old industrial areas are often investigated for ground stability and contamination by excavating a series of trenches across the site, under the supervision of a Geologist.

Drilling Site Investigation
Where an existing property is deemed to be at risk from subsidence due to industrial activity (mining, buried tanks, etc.), the usual and most efficient method of assessment is by rotary percussive open-hole drilling. A series of inclined holes are drilled beneath the property to check for voids or backfilled features.

Drilling is also used where trenching is not practical due to access restrictions or buried services.
Mining Remediation
When old mine workings are known about or discovered through a site investigation, APS can arrange for a suitable remediation scheme for the problem.
Even mineshafts under houses can be fixed in-situ, often without any need for demolition, and frequently returning the property to a condition where it can be mortgaged and insured once again.
APS only uses Chartered Structural/Civil Engineers for this type of design work.
